What is a Logic-Level MOSFET?

Explains why choosing a logic-level MOSFET matters for boards such as Arduino, ESP32 and Raspberry Pi.

Core idea

A logic-level MOSFET is designed to conduct effectively at lower gate voltages.

Common misconception

Gate threshold alone is not enough. Check the VGS level at which the RDS(on) value is specified.

3.3 V GPIO

For ESP32 and Raspberry Pi, RDS(on) specified around 2.5 V or 3.3 V is important.

Next step

Use this lesson together with Claddify component pages and finder tools. Verify the datasheet and connection orientation before building a real circuit.
